Pilgrimage to St. Urho

Saturday was Andy's birthday and so he and Ella and I headed north for our first camping trip of the season. On the way we made a pilgrimage to Menahga, MN to see the giant statue of Saint Urho. I love the part where the the writer of the plaque felt the need to clarify that it was the men who changed clothing, not the grasshoppers.

In Loving Memory

This was the first new bike I ever owned. I bought it at FreeWheel Bicycle Store in Minneapolis in the Fall of '97. This is us at the Pacific Ocean. I loved this bike. It's the bike that made me love biking. I rode it 24/7/365. When it was stolen in '04 it was sporting nerve flower pattern white wall tires and a black leather hello kitty bike seat. I still look for this bicycle everywhere I go.

Bicycles, bike riding, and bicycle culture have largely infuenced my life and my art.
