Cakewalk A new body of work based on the fundraising tradition of the cakewalk; celebrating communities raising more support than money, an earnest custom illustrated in the distinctive mixed media artwork of Amy Rice.

Saturday, October 11 Chowgirls Parlor, 1222 2nd St NE, Minneapolis, MN 

3pm Doors Open

3:30pm Artist talk and discussion about fundraising with Carolyn Payne, Executive Director of The Soo Visual Arts Center and Heidi Andermack for Cultivate Northeast. 

4pm A real cakewalk featuring cakes from some of Minneapolis’s finest bakers and all proceeds going to the build out of the Eastside Food Co-op

5-7pm Artist Reception 

Amy Rice is a fiscal year 2014 recipient of an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund
